Feliz NaviDARKS!

Crazy about the “Locos Adams” and Merlina aka Wednesday Addams.

Did you know that by explicitly confirming the Addams Family as Latine, this interestingly enriches their theme of being social outcasts who don't "quite fit in" with American society? One of the many experiences of being Latine in the United States is the constant reminder that members of this group belong to a different culture and live with a set of values that don't fully align with those of American society.

Also, México has a long history of Gothic culture expanding since 1979. Here are some of my favorite movers and shakers:

Carlos Enrique Taboada Walker (creator)
The Duke of Horror! Mexican screenwriter and director. He is best known for his supernatural terror and suspense films, including Hasta el viento tiene miedo, Más negro que la noche, Veneno para las hadas, and El Libro de piedra.

Size (music)
Music band created in 1979, pioneer of post punk.

Alaska y los Pegamoides (music)
In 1979, Gara, Canut, Berlanga, Ana Curra and Eduardo Benavente formed the band Alaska y los Pegamoides. Alaska was lead singer for the first time with the group "Pegamoides". They took the name as a tribute to one of the bands they admired: Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Daniel Drack (author)
Author, and his book “Escena gótica mexicana: tres décadas de historia (1982-2012)” about the three decades of the history of goth in México.

Pastorela (movie)
After a new clergyman recasts all the roles, a man (Joaquín Cosio) wages an epic battle to play the devil in their town's traditional Nativity play.

Los Espookys (TV series)
Latine comedy television series created by Julio Torres, Ana Fabrega, and Fred Armisen, who also star alongside Bernardo Velasco and Cassandra Ciangherotti. The series follows a group of friends trying to turn their love of horror into a successful business, where most of their jobs consist of fabricating horror film-like situations and tricking people into thinking they are real.

Mary Jose Cristerna (influencer)
Known as “La Mujer Vampiro” Know this iconic instagram model, lawyer and activist shares her daily life with us.

What's your favorite Latine Goth?
